Simone Weil:
Every desire for enjoyment belongs to the future and the world of illusion, whereas if we desire only that a being should exist, he exists....the love we devote to the dead is perfectly pure. For it is the desire for a life which is finished, which can no longer give anything new. We desire that the dead man should have existed and he has existed.
Andre' Comte-Sponville:
What (is) describe(d) is the successful outcome of the mouning process, when all that remains is the gentleness and joy of remembrance, the eternal truth of what once was, and feelings of love and gratitude.
There are times of gentleness and joy of remembrance. Certainly gratitude. Certainly gratitude. We miss our son and brother Aaron. The pictures on the shelves, and tables in our home and in our minds can bring smiles, tears, and anguish. At five months we miss him. It's time to come home son. But your journey doesn't include a visit for homecoming, halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years,... and we're grateful you lived. Peace buddy.
Love you
Dad
