Benjamin Franklin in writing to his son penned "So convenient a thing it is to be a reasonable creature, since it enables one to find or make a reason for everything one has a mind to do."
I read that in Benjamin Franklin, the Autobiography and Other Writings. I put the book down for a few moments and reflected on some of the times I reasoned things I chose to do, to be within my right . For example, Because I could, I would reason it a good idea to make a selfish choice when the right thing to do might have been less desireable (Duck hunt or rake the leaves with Mrs. Meyer. Or, duck hunt v. participate in ....)
"So convenient a thing..." Two hundred and thirty four years later Mr. Franklin's words ring clear to me. Starting today, instead of reasoning why I should do what I have a mind to do, I will pause to be reasonable about finding reasons to make other people feel better.
In my email today I received a message from a 21st century man of wisdom, Tim Sanders. His message simply reads:
Hello Tom –
Wonderful blog and thanks for the good vibes.

To me, that was very cool. "Good Vibes" Happy to be giving good vibes to a guy who's writing books on vibes. I'll remember how that little note made my great day even better.
Peace
Tom
